How can I help the Sixth Street Shelter?

There are three ways you can help our mission:

Volunteering
Volunteers can work one-on-one with residents and their children. They work with the children’s after-school program, cover the reception area, tutor our residents, organize our basement or food pantry, and help clean up around the Shelter.
Learn more about our volunteer opportunities here.

In-Kind Donations
In-kind donations are contributions given in-kindness from you to us. The Shelter is always in need of cleaning supplies and baby items such as diapers and infant clothing. Unfortunately we cannot currently accept furniture, nor do we have the staff to pick up any donated items. Therefore, we ask that all donated items be delivered to the Shelter.

Monetary Donations
In addition to in-kind donations, there is another way that you can help those who are homeless. Monetary donations.  Checks can be made out to the Sixth Street Shelter and either mailed in or delivered in person.  All monetary contributions are tax deductible. Supported by your donations we can help even more families turn their lives around.
