Volunteers
Second Harvest Food Bank welcomes volunteers and individuals performing community service! Some of the available opportunities include sorting and packing donated product, assisting warehouse staff with pulling orders, accompanying drivers on deliveries, performing basic office duties, and assisting with mailings.
The following guidelines have been established to protect and guide our volunteers and staff:
- Volunteers are welcome during our normal working hours, Monday through Friday.
- Volunteer "groups" can range in size from single individuals to 20-25 people. In general, we can easily accommodate smaller groups (5-10) and individuals on a regular basis. Once a month, we need at least 20 people for about 5 hours to pack "senior boxes."
- We accept youth group volunteers as long as all participants are at least 14 years of age or have completed 8th grade.
- Groups of young people must have adult supervision at a rate of one adult for every 5 young people. Adults will be expected to enforce all safety rules.
Volunteers should expect to follow the dress code required for employees. Shorts or skirts should be no more than 4" above the knee. Closed-toed shoes should be worn while working in the warehouse.
Warehouse assistants must be able to lift 50 pounds.
