Established in October 2009, Milou Couture, Inc., an S-Corp, is owned by Doris Perez and her cousin, Emmanuel Gomez.  The business is operated by Doris and her sister, Genny.  When Genny’s search for clothing that properly fit her teacup poodle, Milou, proved unsuccessful, she was inspired to begin her own line of cutting edge designer pet clothing.  The quality of her work soon caught the eye of Claudia Albarracin, a producer for the Spanish-language television network, Univision, which possesses America’s largest Latin American audience.  Before long, Chispita, the celebrity mascot dog of Univision’s popular morning show, Despierta America, was seen wearing Genny’s designer apparel on the show, exposing her work to 25 million viewers weekly and leading to the ever-increasing demand for her products.  Today, in addition to still being featured on Univision, Milou Couture’s collection of dresses, jackets and shirts can be found in numerous stores in New York and Miami, along with hotels in Mexico and Spain.

A $15,000 loan from Rising Tide Community Loan Fund financed accounts payable, inventory and working capital for Milou Couture.
