Melody Seip is a bird lover. She worked for a pet bird retail store in Wilson from 2004-2006, and earned the nickname “the birdlady” while working there. After the store relocated, Melody found that other bird lovers were at a loss for a pet store that met their specific needs. In May 2008, Melody decided to open her own store, The Birdlady of Easton. The store is a one-stop-shop for those interested in buying a pet bird, or for current bird owners in need of supplies. Melody also offers services such as pet bird boarding or pet sitting, nail and wing clipping, and an in-store photographer.
The Rising Tide Community Loan Fund provided a loan to The Birdlady of Easton for advertising, inventory, and working capital.
